Info
What is the Readership of Dainik Bhaskar Newspaper ?
With its origins in two different Indian cities as two different news brands, Dainik Bhaskar is a newspaper with an interesting history. It was founded as Subah Savere in Bhopal in the year 1948, and as Good Morning India in Gwalior. The two news brands came together to be known as Bhaskar Samachar in the year 1957, and it was in the following year, 1958, that the name Dainik Bhaskar was established, and to this day the name continues. As of today, Dainik Bhaskar is the largest circulated newspaper in all of India, and is the fourth largest circulated newspaper in the world! Dainik Bhaskar is owned and published by the Dainik Bhaskar Group. The media company publishes 65 editions of all its publications in the Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati languages, and is present in 12 states across India. It is estimated that, on any given day, Dainik Bhaskar has 4.5 million copies of the newspaper in circulation.
Calculation
How is the Circulation Measured of Dainik Bhaskar Newspaper?
Dainik Bhaskar is an immensely popular newspaper, being read by people across the primarily Hindi speaking regions of India, and even in other parts of the country. With total readership figures estimated to be well over 21.2 million people, Dainik Bhaskar is a dominant player in the Hindi news media landscape, with a large circulation figure. The Audit Bureau of Circulations of India is the organisation that conducts certifications and audits of circulation figures of the country’s major publications, including newspapers and magazines. Circulation figures help newspapers and magazines determine the cost of advertising. The term ‘circulation’ refers to the total number of copies of a newspaper or magazine that are distributed on average per day. The circulation figure includes paid circulation (i.e. copies of the publication that have been purchased) as well as free circulation (i.e. copies of the publication that have been distributed free of charge). This figure is important because it helps advertisers decide which newspapers or magazines to place their advertisements in.
Reasons
What are the Auditory Bodies Which Report on readership figures?
In India, the National Readership Survey (NRS) and the Indian Readership Survey (IRS), which have been the two primary readership surveys in the country, have come together to form the Readership Studies Council of India (RSCI) after the Media Research Users’ Council adopted the proposal to do so during its annual general meeting in September 2011. The erstwhile National Readership Survey was a survey of all media but with a focus on print media, and it was conducted by the National Readership Survey Council, which consisted of members from the Indian Newspaper Society (INS), the Advertising Associations of India (AAI) and the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC). The Indian Readership Survey, as of today, is the largest continuous readership research study in the world. Its annual sample size exceeds 2,56,000 respondents, and it is conducted by the Media Research Users’ Council and the Readership Studies Council of India (RSCI).
